Marian Soyster Atwood passed August 25th, 2017, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's. She is survived by her daughter, Susie Atwood and her son Scott Atwood, her grandchildren, Chris, (Kristin), Sean, (Kate) and Kimberly Atwood, her great grand children, Jordan, Noah and Tobin Atwood and her brother Bob Soyster (Judy).
Marian was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Wright Atwood in 2008.
She was born in Long Beach, moved east with her family to Washington D.C., West Virginia, Louisiana and then returned to Long Beach during high school and attended Jordan High. After graduating from high school at the age of 16, she attended Long Beach City College where she was the leading lady on the LBCC stage, homecoming queen, flag girl, and winner of several prestigious academic awards.
In 1950 she married Wright Atwood. One of her fondest memories was golfing with Wright. After a lengthy search for her ball, he found it in the cup--Marian had gotten a hole in one.
She worked at Newcomb Academy for a number a years but mostly she stayed home to take care of the household. Marian loved her life, her family, her cats and her chocolate.
She will be missed by all who knew her.

I just wanted to let you know how sorry I am for your loss of Marian. It's never easy to go through loosing someone you dearly love. I hope you can find some comfort in your time of loss. Reading Isaiah 61: 1,2 helped me when I was going through my loss.
