Lawrence Robert Prchal of Long Beach, California, passed away on May 14, 2016 at his home. He was born on September 2, 1954, to Robert and Betty (Hooper) Prchal in Hinsdale, Illinois. He graduated from Crystal Lake Community High School in 1972 and went on to earn a Bachelor of Fine Arts in painting from Northern Illinois University in 1979. After spending a few more years in the Chicago area at art-related jobs, he left the Midwest for sunny Southern California. Within a few years, he began working for Motion Industries, Inc. He was employed there for 32 years, finishing his career in inside sales.
Larry was a kind and gentle soul. He was a devoted son and brother, and a loyal friend to many. He lived a simple life with little interest in material possessions. He made it a point to spend quality time with his family and longtime friends. He enjoyed painting and other artistic endeavors, and had some of his drawings published in the Long Beach Books by Authors series. He also liked cooking and trying new recipes.
He is survived by his sisters Linda Faivre (Chuck), and Carol Prchal, his brother, Tim Prchal (Charissa), and his good friend Bobby Soto. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
Larry was concerned about the plight of the homeless. If so moved, please consider making a donation in Larry's memory to your local agency which helps those who are without homes.
A celebration of Larry's life will be held on July 2, 2016, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Hearthside Room of the Ellwood House, 509 North First Street, DeKalb, Illinois.

I worked with Larry for 6-months or so before he became ill. I sure wish that it would have been longer. He was a nice man, and is missed.
