I'm so very sad to hear that Karen as passed away. She was my first idol. I was born in 1955, and my earliest memories were sitting in front of the television with my sister, and our ears on, watching the Mickey Mouse Club. I always felt special because I had the same name as she did. I loved her long blonde curls, and sweetness. Sometimes my dad would come into the room and start singing with us. " Saddle your pony here we go"!... RIP Karen. You had an enormous impact on so many of us. Karen

I just now found out about Karen's passing. I was so saddened, as I, and so many others, spent so much time watching the MMC in our youth.
My heartfelt sympathy to all her family members.
R.I.P. Karen, you will ALWAYS be remembered.

Karen was just two years older than me, and my brother and I adored her. Watching Karen and Cubby sing the good-bye at the end of the show was just the cutest thing ever. I am so sad she's gone. She was part of my childhood! My condolences to the whole family. xooxoxo

My condolences for the loss of your mother. May the God of comfort be with all of you in the days, weeks, and months to come.

I was sadden to hear of Karen's passing, she was my next door neighbor growing up in North Hollywood on Kraft ave. Her mother would make her beautiful dresses and she would come over and show me, and after her dance classes she would show me the new dance that she learned. Her brother Kent was my best friend. My daughter Karen got a hold of her just on facebook just a few months ago, and I was able to contact her after so many years, she told my that Kent had passed away. I will always remember that sweet little girl, may she rest in piece. My condolences to the family. Mary Zaret

The Mouseketeers gather in Annette's home in February 1995 to launch Lorraine Santoli's "The Official Mickey Mouse Club Book."
Staci, on behalf of The Annette Funicello Research Fund, we want to express our heartfelt support as you adjust to the loss of your own Mom. Clearly, Annette (along with the entire nation) thought the world of your Mom. When Annette announced her diagnosis with Multiple Sclerosis in 1992, Karen was among the first friends to offer her support for the days ahead. These former "kids" had a lifetime of support that nothing and no one could overcome. Our prayer is that you and your family are blessed with just that kind of encouraging support in the days to come. You will all remain in our prayers... with gratitude for all that your Mom did to entertain, inform and educate our own youth. Grateful!

Dear Staci and family: we left three entries on Karen's email address; it appears we did not get through. Karen was a wonderful friend and example for little girls who were a little shy, talented and giggly, trying to get through in a wilderness of who am I? where am I going? am I going to be okay? that the other girls on our MMC series did not show. Her implicit bravery and character after the later accident, returning to school years after leaving for a BA & MA and then in addition to raising you, spent the rest of her life devoted to people with problems akin to hers, showing that recovery is ALWAYS possible if you persevere. I am proud to have been a friend and colleague, even though we did not see each other often. We are both sure you are very proud of what your mom accomplished and will grieve at the loss then recall her life positively once more. Mouseketeer Lonnie & Diane, still together in our 49th year.

I am broken hearted. Karen meant so much to me as a child. Her adorable sweet smile was a bright light to me at a difficult time in my life. I learned that we shared the same exact birthday, to the year. I was thrilled to meet her in 1964 when I went to Van Nuys CA. I learned of her challenges years later, and again she inspired me. Karen was my lifelong hero. May her family find comfort in the many memories they shared with her. Know that she brought smiles and joy to children around the world with her incredible talent, her smile and those beautiful long, blond curls. Forever in my heart!

I am so sad to hear of Karen's passing. Although I never met her, I share a connection with her. I am named after her! My sister loved her and Cubby! (I'm glad I was a girl or else I would've been Cubby)
I grew up to love watching her also.
She brought joy to a lot of people.
My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family Staci.

God bless her in heaven. I cannot properly express how much she meant to us young children in the mid to late 1950's. Every day after school I saw the Mickey Mouse Club and Karen was one of my very favorites. Staci, I am more moved by her passing than you might think possible from someone who did not know her personally. George Muha, Union, NJ

Karen was so cute and talented. Loved her. gone a little too soon. Now we're gonna turn the mousekedial to the right and the left with a great big smile. This is the way we get to see a mouse cartoon for you and me. I think I got the right words. Maybe a little off. I know you are in heaven with the rest of the mouseketeers who crossed over. There is Jimmy,Roy,Doreen, Cheryl, Annette,Don, and any I might not remember right at the moment. God bless all of you mouseketeers and thanks for the great memories. You will live on forever.

Was very sad to hear this...the original MM Club was one of the cherished memories of my childhood..when I was 35 and in ICU with heart problems, Dad was overseas and he sent me two VHS tapes of the original show...it was such a meaningful gift that made me happy. And, frankly, Karen and Cubby were my favorites, followed by Annette. Had no idea of he accident and injury.. I used to sing the " Now its time to say goodbye......." with her every night. Fly free little Karen. You brought so much happiness!

Thank you Karen for all the precious memories. Your sweet shy smile shined brightly as a favorite Mouseketeer. You embodied the innocense of our youth. Your friendship with Cubby forever made me refer to my favorite platonic Male friends as my Cubbys. You will live forever in our hearts.

I could not go to sleep tonight without saying Our Hearts Are Broken. Karen was my favorite to watch. I used to get up off the floor, and try to copy her dancing....just like I am sure a lot of other little girls did too. Karen was as bright as a shining star, always stood out, commanded the stage, and what can I say about her mischievous smile. Loved it!
Karen will forever be in our hearts, and we are so blessed that we all got to be a part of the Real Mickey Mouse Club.

My sincere condolences to Karen's Family, and Friends.

But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength;
they shall mount up with wings as Eagles.

Karen entertained many as a Mouseketeer but was also a true inspiration by working and advocating for battered women, and with people that have disabilities. She had a kind soul the size of California & Texas combined. I have been honored and proud to be Karen's Medicare Insurance Agent for many years. My thoughts, prayers, and hugs go out to her daughter, Staci, and family.

I recall the kids at Hoover High School in Fresno, Ca., when they learned that the beautiful lady in the wheel chair was a Mouse Club member. They were impressed but had never watched a single show. In my youth we raced home to catch the show. We never imagined we'd meet an actual member. Karen was a cute girl in the front row. She was a great influence on the kids at Hoover High also. She was very independent and loaded with courage. Because of her the faculty restrooms were modified for wheelchairs. She was always with a smile and would stop and chat with all. She is now back to her old self and I pray that all her family and friends will embrace the Lord and accept Gods richest blesses to see her again in heaven.

How tragic to read of Karens accident that paralyzed her for so many years. How difficult her life must have been; however, she used her experience to help others.
At that time the lame will leap like the deer...(Isaiah 35:6). The day will come when those disabilities will be erased. The resurrection will bring back to life those who died with disabilities but will have them no longer. The future is bright and beautiful.
