Ed Maurer, aka "Fast Eddie," 67, of Long Beach, California, passed away on Nov. 25.
After a brief yet intense struggle with cancer he has now found peace.
Ed worked in information technology for more than 30 years, most recently, as a Database Administrator.
A graduate of Columbia University and a New Yorker to the core, Belmont
Shore became his hometown
Ed loved a sports car and was especially found of Chevy Corvettes. His love of fast cars helped fund more than one online traffic school.
His wife, Margaret Meloni survives him. Ed felt no need for a service in his honor. The best way to memorialize him is with a donation of your choice to either
Southern Poverty Law or Doctors Without Borders.

I didn't know Ed, but read his obit in the Grunion Gazette. I am moved to say I love the humor expressed in it, that he felt no need for a service, and that the best way to honor him is to donate to the SPLC or Doctors w/o Borders, both of which I also support on a regular basis. And now I have reason to contribute again. Margaret, you have my sympathy.

I worked briefly with Ed on a project at Honda. I did not get a chance to know him very well, but I had a sense of how sharp and unique an individual he was. I was saddened to hear of his passing. My thoughts go out to his family and their loss.
