Mary Jean Atkins Mallon Obituary
Mary was the beloved mother of 12, grandmother of 22 and great-grandmother of 2, and a special friend to those who knew her. She passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family on Saturday, January 24, 2015.
Mary came to Long Beach at age 9 with her mother and father. She attended Poly High School graduating in 1942. Mary later met and married Felix, her life-long love, after meeting him at the Icthian Club at St. Anthony's.
While Felix and his brother, John were serving overseas, Mary became a Wave with the Navy, serving most of her time in Corona. She has also been a long time member of the YLI (Young Ladies Institute), better known to some of the younger Mallons as the "Wild Eye."
Mary was predeceased by her husband, Felix Eamon and eldest son, John Joseph Mallon. She is survived by her children and their families: Robert (Stephanie) Hanson, Laura Crane, Melanie Mallon, Mary Mallon-Chavez, (Gary) Rosaleen Hall, Brigid Haase, Felix Mallon, Martha Smith, Sarah Mallon, Bill Mallon, and Matthew Mallon.
